Most cases don’t need a PGAL or evaluator appointment.
Why are court interviews often the better choice?:
Quality of evidence: Direct court interviews create objective, recorded testimony rather than subjective, unverifiable, second-hand summaries from PGALs and evaluators.
Speed and cost: A court interview or interviews take(s) place faster than trying to coordinate with a PGAL, and court interviews are free of charge. PGALs and custody evaluators take too long (evaluators take way too long) and cost thousands (and the work product doesn’t justify the price).
PGAL and custody evaluators aren’t special: And before anyone contends, “But PGALs and custody evaluators can do more than just interview children,” that can all be handled through discovery by the parties’ attorneys themselves.
