Yes, it is advisable. You can’t go wrong by waiting to start dating until after your decree of divorce is issued by the court. Personally, I consider it immoral to date (especially to engage in extramarital sexual relations while dating) before one is divorced.
But if you must know whether dating while married while waiting to obtain a decree of divorce is doable, I’ll give you my view as a divorce lawyer in Utah (and I can’t speak for what view all courts take of married people going through a divorce case who start dating before their marriage is dissolved by a decree of divorce, but I can tell you that in Utah (where I practice divorce and family law)), in Utah (rightly known for being a morally conservative state). Once a couple has separated and it’s either declared by one or both spouses, “We’re going to divorce” or a divorce action has actually been filed, I have yet to see a Utah court condemn or sanction a married spouse for dating. I have yet to see a Utah court deem a separated spouse who has sexual intercourse in the course of dating while separated/engaged in a pending divorce action to be an adulterer/adulteress.
