In Divorce Cases, Does Family Court Usually Favor Mothers?

Yes. Anyone who denies this fact is lying to you. This does not mean that fathers cannot get a fair shake in child custody cases; they can, but most fathers must work ten times harder than the mothers do to get that fair shake. Anyone who denies this fact is also lying to you.

In fairness and accuracy:

  • the bias and discrimination against fathers in child custody disputes is decreasing over time, but it’s still alive and well; and
  • not all courts favor mothers in child custody disputes, but so few take a truly impartial approach that a father would be a fool to expect not to encounter discrimination simply by virtue of the fact that he is a male, and “thus” inferior to the mother as a parent.
